What is the Outreach Program?

The outreach program offers you an experience to interact with the next generation of talent in a structured, consistent, output-focused way that also gives back to our local community. We're seeking mentors for a group of teenagers who are building a business idea to pitch to a live audience. You will mentor students from students in Kingswood Community College Dublin during the program.

What's Involved

One Day, Lots of Learning

As a mentor, you'll share your expertise and inspire the next generation of entrepreneurs. Your guidance and support will help students to develop a business idea, build confidence, and pitch their idea to a live audience.

Time Action
08:00 Susan will arrive at Kingswood Community College
08:15 Susan will brief students for one hour about the event
09.17 Susan will leave students under teacher supervision to develop their business ideas
11.30 Manulife volunteers will arrive at Kingswood Community College
11.55 Susan will facilitate the mentorship between Manulife volunteers and students
14.10 Susan will finish the event inline with the end of the school day and debrief with volunteers

The Activity Plan

12:00 Introduction to Mentors

Introduce yourself, and answer the following questions; What job do you do? What is your favourite part of it? What is your greatest strength and weakness?

12:10 Creative Thinking with AI

Lead a creative thinking session around business ideas. It's a good idea come up with questions to get to know each group's business idea using Chat GPT for prompts.

12:20 Fishbone Activity

Help a group consider the geographics, psychographs and demographics of their business idea using the fishbone activity in Money Matters.

12:40 Marketing Plan

Give guidance to a new group shape their marketing plan including channel, budget and conversion rate.

13:00 Financing A Business

Critique a new group's financial plan including expected sales, costs, profit and reinvestment with the benefit of experience.

13:15 Practice Makes perfect

Let a new group run a dress rehearsal of presenting the business idea and offer some suggestions for how they have improve.

13:30 Pitch Perfect

Listen to each group present their business idea and participate in a highly interactive Q&A as the audience puts the business idea to the test.

14:00 Feedback Session

Share your feedback with us using MentiMeter so that everybody can learn more from your provide feedback about your experience.

14:10 Closing With A Smile

Enjoy a great start to your week-end as you consider the impact of the day, the event ends on time and we debrief about the initiative.

As a mentor, you get the opportunity to participate in a community outreach, get an insight into how teenagers look at the world of business and make a difference by helping develop new skills.
